PIGMENT SPRINKLES STRIPS

I truly love the Pigment Sprinkles (page 179) introduced by Stampin' Up! in their Annual Catalog that went live in June. Coming in six glorious Stampin' Up! colors, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody and Melon Mambo, they are so much fun -- and so unpredictable -- to play with. 

Because I like to give my customers a taste of new products as often as possible, I decided to do up another card using the Pigment Sprinkles for my August Stamp-In Workshop. To prepare for the workshop -- and to make up my own sample! -- I took 6" squares of heavy watercolor paper, one for each color, and did a separate sheet to showcase the lovely colors in a larger format. I proceeded to cut these sheets into 1 1/8" strips. This gave me five strips of each of the six colors the Pigment Sprinkles come in. I ended up cutting 1" off each strip, so they actually measured 1 1/8" x 5".

I discovered through this exercise that ANY combination of three of the strips looks wonderful together. Wanting the girls to be able to customize their own cards, I randomly put together my sample using strips in Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green. Since we were going to have a plethora of color combinations, I decided to make the remainder of the card in black, white and metallic gold.

Mounted onto black cardstock, the colored strips look exquisite. 

The card base is actually Whisper White, 

although that is not apparent in these photos.

I wanted the colorful strips to be the actual stars of the card, 

so I opted for a simple focal point to let the colors shine.

DIRECTIONS:

Fold a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock in half, creasing it well with a bone folder.

To this card base, adhere a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of black cardstock.

Create the watercolor strips with the Pigment Sprinkles as mentioned above, choosing three colors for your own creation.

With the Stitched Labels dies, cut two 2" circles, one in black and one in white.

Rub the Embossing Buddy very well across the black circle. In VersaMark ink, stamp the sentiment onto the circle. At the Heat Station, cover the stamping with Gold Embossing Powder, tapping the excess powder back into its container. Use a small paintbrush to remove any stray particles if needed. Stray flecks of gold embossing powder against black is NOT attractive. Use the Heat Tool to emboss the words, making sure the entire sentiment is shiny and set.

Run some Snail Adhesive across the back of the black circle. Loop the gold cord on the back of the black circle, catching it on the adhesive with each pass. You should end up with four loops around the circle. Use tape to secure it on the back as needed.

With the white circle offset to the left a bit, adhere the black circle to the white circle to make one single unit.

Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the sentiment to the card front. In my sample, my placement is a bit wonky, but I like it like that. Adhere yours to your own personal taste.

If you haven't yet given the Pigment Sprinkles a try, do yourself a huge favor and get some in (and on!) your hands. You will have a blast! I guarantee it!
